The 2014 Medina Vineyard Chardonnay is a very refreshing wine with gorgeous, floral aromas leading to bright flavors of lemon-lime, tangerine, honeysuckle and Muscat on the palate. Spicy oak complements these flavors, while a backbone of vibrant acidity becomes refreshingly dry on the finish.

Rued Chardonnay clone 7 on two rootstocks:
Comprised of sandy loam from the Goldridge soil series, the soil is deep, soft and well drained.
Medina Vineyard is located in the Green Valley subappellation of the Russian River Valley, in Sonoma. Planted in 1969, the vineyard rests on a gentle, rolling slope with a northeastern exposure that offers plentiful sunlight throughout the day. Medina Vineyard is composed of Goldridge sandy loam soils, which produce vines of moderate vigor. The coastal influence produces daytime temperatures that allow the grapes to slowly develop full ripeness, while retaining perfect balance.

The marine influence has a distinct influence on the character of Russian River Chardonnay, offering vibrant acidity and a floral expression to the fruit. In 2014, a warm, dry spring led to an early bud break and bloom. The canopies were very healthy and the crop load was normal. Leaves were stripped around the fruiting zone, exposing the fruit as much as possible. Fog lingered during the summer in this area, with few sunny mornings delaying veraison. Warmer temperatures in early September encouraged flavor development and we harvested this vineyard just as the rains came late September.
